CWS at UNICEF’s Photo Benefit

This past Wednesday, May 30th, CWS was invited to UNICEF’s Water Themed Photo Benefit in New York City. After past fellows, Mira Thompson, Kathryn Padgett, Annie McBride, Heather Vereb and Hannah Hill entered pictures for the contest they had invited someone from CWS to represent the pictures. The pictures were posted on Facebook and the ones with the most “likes” were framed and auctioned off at the Benefit.

The gallery was packed with people and consisted of a celebration of water worldwide with cocktails, appetizers and art! The pictures were all amazing. It was so great seeing the excitement around bidding on the CWS pictures. The two CWS pictures in auction were pictures taken by past fellows Heather Vereb and Kathryn Padgett. Their pictures alone raised $325 for UNICEF!

Thank you UNICEF for inviting CWS to attend this great event, to Mira for letting us know about the photo contest and to our awesome Fellows who entered their pictures!

CWS Holiday Online Auction Closes Monday!

The CWS Holiday Auction is definitely something to check out!!  The items vary– from a handsewn patchwork quilt right from the local Ghanian market to a David Ortiz Hand-signed Official Red Sox Game Jersey to a Private 2 hr Sail on a Yacht around Newport, Rhode Island.

You are bound to get a great gift for someone on your list while also supporting CWS’ work towards eradicating the need for safe drinking water in rural Ghana.

Help us get $50,000 towards a new website!

This morning we found out that we made it to the finals for a chance to win $50,000 towards a new website. Jackrabbit’s Carrots for A Cause Competition is going to give this prize to the non-profit with the most votes.

Top 5 Reasons the CWS website needs a face lift:

  1. We want you, our supporters, to see the amazing effect you are having in Ghana.
  2. We want to inspire people to get involved in our work.
  3. We want every dollar raised to go towards bringing clean drinking water to more people, not a website.
  4. We have a ton of amazing pictures that need to be used to better showcase our work.
  5. We need a website that shows, not only how awesome the work CWS does, but also how amazing all the fellows are behind the work that we do.

Now let’s make it happen!

Vote once every day from now until Friday!

Set your calendars and reminders!

CWS Is on

CWS Benefit: Success!

The First Annual Community Water Solutions Benefit was a huge success! We had such a great time celebrating CWS’ first 3 years and raised $10,000 for our cause!  We can’t wait to share the awesome photos by April K!

We’d like to thank all of the amazing people who helped to make this event possible, especially our supporting sponsors: Eaton Vance Investments and Foley Hoag, LLC; our awesome performers: Sid Sriram, Overboard, and the LE Project; our great beverage sponsors: The Boston Beer Company, Trader Joes, Bullard’s Market and Package Store, Palumbo Liquors, Upper Falls Wine and Liquors, Hanover Wine and Spirits, and the Medfield Wine Shoppe; Warren Anderson for putting together both of the awesome CWS Videos; all of our amazing donors who contributed items to the silent auction; the incredibly hardworking event committee: Sarah Wood, Mike Kearney, Sarah Fletcher, Karla Franco, Guillermo Guitierrez, and Vanessa Green; and of course, the W Hotel who generously donated the event-space and were wonderful to work with.

Finally, we would like to thank everyone who attended the Benefit. It was so great to share this special evening with all of you. We are so grateful for your support!
