Saha is a nonprofit service provider that manages safe water as an ongoing public service in last-mile communities across rural Ghana. We treat water systems not as a one-time installation but as a professional service that has to perform every day.

Our model

Saha installs and operates water infrastructure matched to each community’s conditions and water source, whether surface water or groundwater. A trained, salaried, and supervised Water Service Operator manages each Water Service Point, supported by specialized field staff responsible for preventive maintenance, water quality monitoring, and rapid repair. This layered structure ensures accountability is embedded within the service as a whole.

By operationalizing Ghana’s national water frameworks, including the NCWS Strategy and GS-187 quality standards, Saha translates policy goals into reliable, utility-grade service on the ground. We share data on cost, reliability, and performance with district assemblies and government partners, creating clear entry points for government engagement and enabling partners to learn from and adopt utility-grade last-mile service.

Saha engineers rural water systems that meet Ghanaian and WHO standards to perform in last-mile conditions. Each system combines the right solution with clear technical and service delivery standards. This establishes standard operating procedures for safe, reliable water services.
